Great Scott! Productions is Fran Scott’s white label bespoke science communication production company.

We produce brand-specific workshops, demonstrations, resources and stage shows.

At Great Scott! Productions we can make your science communication dreams a reality. We work with your company, establishing your true desires for the project so we can produce exactly what your company needs, be that a bespoke classroom-based workshop, demonstrations for a trade stand or a theatre-style stage show.

We pride ourselves on producing top quality science communication, we don’t cut corners and our output is always professional and considered.

What We Can Do
If you just need a gentle steer, we can help. Our experienced science communicators can discuss your desired outputs and advise on the best way to achieve these, be that through addition of demonstrations to your talks, improved written resources or just understanding your audiences more. Our expertise lies in reaching children and family audience in entertaining and meaningful ways.
If you’re a Science Centre or Museum and need a new show or workshop we can certainly do that. We will research your desired area, write the content, produce the props and then train your own staff so it can delivered without further input (or cost).
If your company has an idea and yet not the resources to deliver, don’t worry. As well as writing and producing, we can also fully deliver a project, meaning that your company doesn’t have to deal with recruitment or training. So just sit back and enjoy the show (that we will perform fully).

Siemen’s SeeWomen

Stage Show

With a complicated brief, Siemens were keen to deliver a project that was equally informative and inspirational. Although they had fantastic ideas they had neither the expertise nor the staff for development and delivery of this project. At Great Scott! Productions we worked under the Siemens banner to write and produce the high-octane SeeWomen stage show which we describe as one third inspirational speech, one third science show and one third careers talk. Its success has seen this project go from a short term delivery campaign to us delivering constantly for the past two years(!).

National Grid

Classroom Workshop

Pleased with our previous work for them in 2017, National Grid came to us with a tricky task. They wanted a meaningful electricity workshop delivered across the Kent region, to not only educate children in electricity, but also their teachers, and provide the schools with equipment that would actually be useful. After months of research and development, we devised a classroom workshop and CPD teacher training session, that would teach the pupils and teachers not only about electricity, but also guide them in how to use the equipment we would be providing for their school.

Mishkat Science Centre

Show

Development & Training (Show)

Mishkat Science Centre is a revolutionary science centre in Saudi Arabia. They approached Great Scott! Productions (via a third party) as they were keen to professionalise their science stage shows. With an initial loose brief, we set about to hone down their true desires. Targets now clear, we wrote a bespoke stage show, built the props and went over there to train their staff in not only how to present the show, but also how to prep and care for the demonstrations and equipment.

BBC Science

Science Demonstrations

Development and Training (Science Demonstrations)

BBC Science were running several production based talks at a Science festival, but needed stage production support, plus help to entertain the inevitable crowds. They called on Great Scott! Productions, and we provided onsite AV support, Stage Management and delivery of numerous entertaining Science Demonstrations for the crowds. In addition, we provided pre-event support such as timetabling advise, contacts and liaisons with the event organisers.
